Expect lots of weirdness on BlogWood this weekend, as I am simultaneously changing web hosts and blogging software.
I’ve been publishing with Movable Type, which started out as a good, free web publishing tool. Very powerful, flexible, and quite adequate for my needs. But then they had to go and start charging for it.
Actually, since BlogWood is a non-profit project, MT would have stayed free for me, but the licensing agreement was very strict, limiting my options should I decide to bring in more authors or lots of other little things.
So it’s on to WordPress: an open source community project that offers similar (but Better! Bigger! Stronger!) features and is just different enough to occasionally throw me for a loop.
As I learn and experiment and tweak and tinker, the site may well experience times of darkness. Please bear with me, and check back throughout the weekend to see what’s new.
And look around. There’s some new features for your pleasure, and more cool stuff coming soon.
