No picnic in Tampa park

Members of Food Not Bombs continue to risk arrest as they feed homeless people in a Tampa park.

About a dozen people, mostly students in their late teens or early 20s who call their group Food Not Bombs, showed up at the park Sunday with food.

On March 21, Tampa police arrested two men on a trespassing charge while they shared food with the homeless, records show.

Lily Lewis, 20, an environmental science student at the University of South Florida, said Sunday that she had been arrested on the same charge.

Police have warned others with the group not to trespass for a year on city park or recreation property for the purpose of feeding the homeless.

Food Not Bombs will protest April 19 at the Hillsborough County Courthouse during its members' court appearances.
