Legislature to "wish away" e-voting problems

But there's a crucial difference: the absence of a paper trail.Posted by Norwood at April 12, 2004 06:59 PMToday, the Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to take up a bill that attempts to wish the problem away by outlawing recounts in counties that use touch-screen voting -- even in counties that want to buy printers to provide a backup. It's an unwise response to a deeply troubling problem. The Legislature should be looking for ways to increase Floridians' trust in the state's honor-stained elections system instead of eroding voter confidence.
