Actually, the Dems controlled the process in 1991 and 1992. Diaz-Balart did get something carved out for him, but so did Karen Thurman, who is now in charge of FDP, as did Peter Deutsch.

But that shows the problem with the current system just as well as anything. The big difference in 2001 and '02 wasn't so much that the GOP was in charge but that they had crazy computer software to gerrymander to an even more offensive degree.

Rubio fights hella hard on Cuban issues, but seems willing to hate on all other brown people. Someone should tell him Cubans aren't even the biggest Hispanic voter group. Mexicans and Puerto Ricans both outnumber. Attacking minorities is a long-term loser for the GOP, and a short-term loser for Rubio in particular.

It would be interesting to know if Rubio's wife's parents "are" or "came in" as legal as Rubio might want them to be.

Thanks for the fine post. One of the realities in Florida, and one that is rarely addressed, is that all of Florida's traditional media outlets - including the supposedly "liberal" outlets like the Saint Pete Times - are virulently anti-union. There's of course a reason for this: they're all businesses, nothing more, nothing less. See <a href="http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2010/7/29/888077/-Sen.-Franken:-Stop-the-corporate-takeover-of-the-media" title="Sen.
My wife always says I am too soft on McCollum, who I would never vote for, but I gotta say, Rick Scott scares me about as much as anyone to hit the public stage. I don't mind a little public money going to keep that criminal off the November ballot in favor of Bill the impeacher.

Jeff Greene bugs me too, though mostly because he seems such a sham that the Dems will lose the general should he prevail in August.

I hope the recent scandals and bad press around Rubio make people realize how fast this race can turn. Six months ago, it looked like Crist would skate through the primary and general election. Four months ago it seemed he was doomed to fail in the primary and that Rubio would have a easy walk to the Senate. Now it seems Charlie is on top, and many think they have to vote Crist to block Rubio, but the race could change again tomorrow.

This could concievably be a Crist-Meek battle by the time November comes around if Rubio can't find a way to manage this bad press.

The oozing irony. You prove here Charlie Crist is the ultimate parody candidate, and everyone who votes for him better realize the joke is on them.
